1 Item, 3 Looks | The Made to Measure Suit – Part 1 + Indochino Review

Hey Prepsters,

Finding the perfect suit can be a little bit of a tricky endeavour. Especially when you have a larger build like myself. It gets even trickier to find ways to get the most bang for your buck, by finding ways to rock the suit for multiple occasions! But have no fear, TPG is here… to show you how you can get the perfect suit and rock it many different ways.

For this post, I wanted to demonstrate how you can rock a suit in a classic but more unique colour, in a very dapper – ready for business fashion!

Finding the Suit & Shirt

I started my journey to finding the perfect suit by heading to Indochino, which is my go-to place for affordable, but high quality made to measure suiting. What I enjoy about Indochino is that you can either create your suit from home, or even visit their showrooms for a more personalized experience. I visited the Square One showroom and met with Ryan and he started off by taking my measurements. We then went onto selecting the fabrication, and picking out the finer details from the stitching to lining and more!

I selected the Finchley Houndstooth Tan suit, which caught my eye as I was in the market for a tan suit. But I knew that because this had a smaller print with a dark brown tone, it would be a perfect contender to wear all year round – and to wear as separates. For the shirt, I went for a oxford in blue!

A few weeks after the order went through, the suit arrived right at my front door in a beautiful box! I tried it on and it was literally a perfect fit. What’s great about the way the suit was constructed was that literally all that needed to be done after this, was to taper the pants just a little bit! And because this suit was such a hit, I went back and made a purchase for another navy double breasted beauty, which you will see soon on the blog too! And what’s great is that they were able to order it within minutes as my measurements were already on file!

My Customizations:

As I mentioned earlier, I really wanted to go for a very dapper and chic suit, which could be worn as separates! So here’s a list of my customizations that I made to make it perfect for myself + if you would like to create a similar look; this part may come super handy:

The Blazer: Finchley Houndstooth Tan Suit

  • Lapels: Peak-Wide
  • Vents: Two
  • Buttons: Two
  • Pockets: Pocket Flaps
  • Lining: Nascar Print
  • Button Colour: Black Buttons
  • Monogram: “Property of The Prep Guy” (Which I would recommend changing up if you were ordering the same lol)
  • Additional Add Ons: Pick Stitching, Pen Pocket, Functional Sleeve Buttonholes, Functional Boutonniere, Felt Collar: Burgundy, Button Holes Colour: Match

The Trousers: Finchley Houndstooth Tan Suit

  • No Pleats
  • Hem: 1.5″ Cuff
  • Waistband: Side-tabs (which was a first for me, and I am OBSESSED).

The Shirt: Hartland Blue

  • Collar: Spread Collar
  • Cuffs: One Button Angled
  • Trim: Blue Mini Gingham
  • Monogram: TPG
  • Final Touches: Standard Placket

The Perfect Business Look

To Complete the look, I also purchased a blue tie with a beautiful green paisley print, which seems to be available in-store only, but you can shop their other ties online too! Can I also say, Indochino has the literal perfect width for ties! They’re big guy friendly by not being too skinny, but also are universally flattering for all guys out there by being not too wide either.

I added my tortoise shell optical frames to add a sharp dandy look or switched it out for my Ralph Lauren Purple Label Sunglasses. Also, because wanted to keep the look sharp and interesting, but not overdone, I opted for no pocket-square and with a horsebit loafer from Cole Haan (total dupe for the Gucci ones.. but for 1/3 of the price).

Final Thoughts!

My experience with Indochino was extremely pleasant! The staff was really wonderful and one of their associates actually inspired my second purchase,  the navy double breasted suit which I will debut soon!

I would also like to note that this is literally not a paid post at all! My experience was truly amazing! I have a link for anyone who is interested in ordering from Indochino, where you will get $25 your first order – and your home boy will get $25 too for my next purchase! I hope you enjoyed this post and I can’t wait to show you more ways to rock this suit!
