#31HOLIDAYS DAY 2 | DAPPER FOR LESS – THE PREP GUY

Hey Prepsters,

It’s day two of my #31HoliDays Series! For today’s look, I wanted to share a dapper look by using some of my wardrobe staples. Although it probably looks like I took an hour to put this look together, I actually threw it together in 2 minutes *no lie*. Perhaps it was because I’ve already worn all of these items so many times, that I just knew how to style it. But that’s pretty much the trick of the trade when it comes to creating new outfits from well-loved pieces.

These are all pieces that most men have, or men have comparative items… and if you don’t, then use this post as a guide for you need to have.

I started with an essential item:

I always start every look with one focus item, and in this case, it was my trusty charcoal travel suit that I purchased from RW&CO for 60% off #Yas. The key to making this suit look so expensive was a solid tailoring job, but all together this suit with tailoring and taxes was still under $250.

Added some colour!

I threw on a simple white button down dress shirt from my friends at Perry Ellis. Now to add some colour! This look is a great example of how you can use colour to completely take a look from slam to BAM. I threw on a dark green Ralph Lauren Merino Wool sweater – note the Orange Polo RL. logo as it will be super important, that I found at Winners for $39.99…. As you can tell, I live for a good sale! I threw on a burgundy wool blend bow-tie from RW&CO, to give it a holiday vibe, with deeper shades of green and red, which are complimentary colours as well. I had a lovely Benjamin Bayle pocket square ($20) which tied this look together PERFECTLY! It has a dark green base; which pulled from the sweater, and a burgundy + orange paisley print; which tied the ensemble together.

The finishing touches

To complete this look, I threw on my fave camel topcoat (Was under $100 during boxing week at Banana Republic), which I literally wear almost everyday, my Daniel Wellington watch, tortoiseshell specs by Gant Rugger (were also on sale at Clearly.ca), and lastly, a rich brown chelsea boot from Loding – which was the only “splurge” item in this look, BUT they offer great value for their price.
