#SKINCARESUNDAYS | REVIEW OF ORIGINS SKIN CARE

Hey Prepsters,

I am super excited to launch this new segment for my blog! Over the past 2 years, I have become a major skin care junkie and a lot of you guys and gals out there have requested more content relating to it. The #SkinCareSundays content is going to bi-weekly (in hopes to become a weekly segment) to really give an in-depth look into skin care brands and their newest releases. For this post, I am going take a dive into a brand that I have been loving this year, Origins.

About the brand

The Origin’s brand was founded in the 90’s by the son of Estée Lauder, Leonard Lauder. The brand is also owned by the cosmetics giant and sells in over 2000 retailers internationally. I personally only discovered the brand earlier this year at a PR event and was extremely impressed with a few of their Ginzing infused products. The brand is also well recognized for it’s collaborations with world renowned Celebrity Doctor, Andrew Weil.

The Products
Origins GinZing SPF 40 – Energy Boosting Tinted Moisturizer (Left)

The first product I tried from the brand was the energy boosting minded moisturizer, and it was instantly love at first site. I definitely think this product is a great foray for men and women who are looking for a hydrating product which provides a little bit of coverage. The product uses coffee-beans and panax ginseng to energize and just looks like your skin but better! What I truly love about this as a tinted moisturizer is that it is one colour, but it actually blends to match your skin tone. I was a little bit skeptical about that because I am of colour, and was worried that it would leave myself looking ashy. I personally add a little it of bronzer around the perimeters of my face with this product as a base for an easy everyday look. Luckily, it did not and it truly is a wonderful product to use! I have not however seen this product on a deeper skin-tone, so if you are a darker shade than myself, be sure to try the product in-stores first.

Origins GinZing – Peel Off Mask to Refine and Refresh (Right)

Though the tinted moisturizer was an absolute hit, I found this product’s application to not be pleasant, however, the results are phenomenal! The issue I encountered was that there was an overwhelming alcohol scent and it irritated my skin upon application. Additionally, I thought it dried up rather quickly, which didn’t allow for an even application. As I just mentioned, the product dried quickly and but was also easy to remove! I smiled and peeled off the mask starting at the edges. The product left my skin feeling much firmer, visibly smoother and also less dull. I would not recommend this product if you are sensitive to products with alcohol.

The following line is the Mega-Mushroom skin relief line by Dr. Andrew Weil in collaboration with Origins. The active ingredient in the line is the Reishi Mushroom, which helps to sooth the skin by calming sensitivity, irritation, reduce visible redness and also boost resilience.

Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins – Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Micellar Cleanser

This product is a great cleanser for when you are not wearing makeup and I would definitely say, it is a much more soothing/gentle cleanser in comparison to other micellar cleansers on the market. However, I tried using this to remove my makeup as well and it definitely did not perform well at all. To put it into perspective, I tried it on my L’Oreal Pro Glow foundation which is very light-weight and typically easy to wash away… for $40, this was a major miss for me (as a makeup remover). I would only recommend this as a cleanser to wipe away a makeup free face.

Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins – Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Soothing Treatment Lotion

This product is absolutely incredible! It feels ultra light-weight and a little bit goes a long way (very watery in texture)! I think this would make a beautiful daytime lotion for both men and women, regardless of your skin type! My skin looked radiant and felt well hydrated! I highly recommend this product!

Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins – Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Soothing Face Cream

This is my new holy grail product. What I love about this is that it creates a beautifully hydrated base and I personally love this in my night-time routine! It’s rich in texture and just makes your skin feel divine! I might even say this is in my top 5 skin care products of all time.
