Spring is here and although in Canada it feels like it’s still Winter time, I thought it would be fun to do a post on some of my favourite nautical inspired items. Now, I didn’t want to be really traditional with the theme – because let’s be real, it would be strange to be walking around and looking like a sailor. I wanted to showcase how I take a few pieces from the nautical trend and update them with an awesome everyday look.
The Shirt – Old Navy
Print oxfords are one of my favourite shirt styles. Although I do consider the plain white oxford an essential, it is always nice to mix it up. I stepped into Old Navy for the first time in perhaps the past 10 years a couple of weeks ago, and I instantly fell in love with their new collection.
The Sweater – Joe Fresh
There’s nothing more Prep than wearing your sweater around your shoulders Carleton Banks style, lol. I picked up this basic navy crew-neck from Joe Fresh at my local grocery store for a couple of bucks, and it’s the definition of cheap and cheerful.
The Tote You NEED – Brave Leather
For over 20 years, Brave Leather has been making incredible leather made products. Brave Leather has been one of my top Made in Canada brands for years, and its success story just showcases the level of product quality that the Canadian market has to offer. The brand has sustained itself as one of the most established and iconic leather made companies within the nation, and their styles are always on point. The Giovana tote from Brave Leather is a timeless classic, and the brand’s best selling bag. The black leather contrasts beautifully with the rich tan handle and logo. The interior is made from supple suede and is extremely spacious. Click here to get the Giovana Tote from Brave Leather.
An Ocean Inspired Timepiece – BULOVA
Clearly by now, most of you know how obsessed I am with the Bulova brand. I recently picked out the 2016 Spring/Summer 2016 Marine Star, which is one of the iconic watch brand’s amazing line-up for this year. Further details about this watch are coming to the blog tomorrow, so stay tuned (and be sure to subscribe).
Fun Reflective Sunnies – (Not Sure who they’re by)
These sunglasses are actually my sisters, but the classic club-master style is universally worn by men and women everywhere, so I was like, why not steal em. You can definitely find similar frames from Ray Ban and even TOMS. I actually recently picked out a pair of TOMS Travellers which have a beautiful matte black frame and a reflective blue frame. You can find the TOMS travellers online at www.toms.ca, and my TOMS collab which will feature them will be coming soon, so stay tuned.
Tan Sneakers – BOXFRESH from Designer Shoe Warehouse
So for the past couple of months, I have teamed up with my one of my favourite footwear retailers, Designer Shoe Warehouse to showcase a couple of my fave picks. These sneakers from BOXFRESH are super comfortable, and I thought these would be a fun street-inspired substitute for the nautical look. They’re super comfortable and on an amazing discount (why I love DSW so much). Click here to find Boxfresh Sneakers from DSW.
The Navy Jeans
Navy coloured jeans and chinos are definitely big this season. You can find great casual navy pant options from brands such as Nautica and Massimo Dutti. The one’s that I am wearing in this blog post were actually really disappointing in terms of quality, and because I only like recommending products I genuinely like and approve off, I thought I’d leave these out.
Be sure to share/like and comment! I hope you enjoyed the blog post. I really missed my #Prepsters and I can’t wait to share tons of more content this season. Lots of love, Syed Sohail – The Prep Guy.
