TPG Rant: It’s Tiffany Blue Not Teal… Pretentious Colour Names

This weeks’ rant is a little more light hearted than the Kanye West Rant… but today I was joking around with my best friends Eden and Banan about how annoyingly pretentious people can be when talking about certain colours.
It was brought to my attention that a customer corrected me when I was working about calling her dress teal. The lady responded by saying, “It’s Tiffany Blue not teal.” I didn’t even bother responding because I happen to value my job more than offering my opinion to some stuck up lady. What really bothered me was that I was complimenting the colour of her belt, and that she replied with a snooty answer rather than a thank you. But I figured out that she just wanted to sound a little bit cooler by adding a designer name in front of it. Now I do understand that there are a lot of people that call it “Tiffany Blue,” but just imagine how annoying would it be if everyone started to give every colour a designer label. Imagine going to the grocery store and asking the store clerk for a Louboutin Red Apple or an Hermes Orange Carrot… how crazy would you sound? Anyways, I just wanted to share my two cent on that.
