Hey Prepsters,
I hope you’re having a great thanks giving weekend. I have been wanting to do a Sports Luxe look post for a really long time now, so as soon as a got my hands on these New Balance kicks from Designer Shoe Warehouse’s new Etobicoke location, I knew it was time!
The relatively new, and very popular idea of athleisure or sports luxe has become a growing debate on how the modern man can do the look without looking sloppy and where does one start. My personal style rule is that every guy should try a trend out by picking up one item, and to pull of the the Sport Lux look, the easiest items to incorporate are outerwear or joggers. Also, before you branch out into colour, start off with monochrome tones, and if you like the trend for yourself, start introducing colour.
I picked up my Sports Luxe look from Bench Canada. Bench is a great brand to head to, when trying out a sporty look, as they have high quality pieces, which can easily be worn in your everyday life. I picked out two items; the Prestige Pant and the Pulse Zip Thru Jacket from Bench’s FW15 line-up. What I love about these jogger pants, is that they have a streamlined and slimmer profile than many other traditional sweats on the market, but remain insanely comfortable. Also, the Pulse Bomber jacket is the utilitarian dream, it features amazing details from its waterproof shell, several exterior and interior pockets, lightweight material to its sharp quilted design. You can find these pieces and several more from Bench Canada’s full Fw15 line-up in store and online.
Finding the right footwear is crucial to completing your Sport Luxe look successfully. In general, aim to go for a monochrome pair of shoes for your sports luxe look, or by adding one accent colour in to pull the look together. As I mentioned earlier, I picked up my New Balance 574 from DSW’s newest Etobicoke location last weekend. What I love about the New Balance 574′s is the simplicity in design and of course, the comfort. Looking for my sneakers at Designer Shoe Warehouse was a breeze because they are so organized. The sneaker/athletic footwear section at DSW had several of my go-to brands from Nike to Converse. The best part about this purchase, was of course, the price! These were at 70% off from the original price, and even though I had intended to go for to DSW one pair, I ended up leaving with three (blog post coming soon). You can shop 10,000’s styles online at DSW’s website or in store.
When it comes to accessorizing your sports luxe look, try to be as minimal in colour as possible. I completed my look by layering a black polo underneath the jacket, and by adding pairing my look few silver toned Le Chateau sunglasses, my lion ring and a black and silver toned Bulova Diamond Series watch.
I hope you liked my tips! Be sure to scroll down and check out my full shoot and leave a comment with any comments or questions.
