Hey Prepsters! A few weeks ago I went to work on a fun K-SWISS project with my team. The K-SWISS brand has become an iconic American tennis brand since it’s beginnings in 1966 and is recently getting revamped with a new relaunch. The brand is under the direction of DJ Diplo and 100 creatives under the title of The Board to lead the company into the future. For the brand’s SS15 collection heads back to its heritage American roots with reimagined vintage collection. White leather remains signature material of the brand for SS15 but elements such as perforated leather and gum rubber detailing update the new collection. The brand has also updated its new modernized logo and red, white and blue colour detailing give an unmistakably American aesthetic.
For my shoot, I wanted to follow K-SWISS’ older slogan of putting my spin on the pair I selected. I wanted to keep my look fairly minimal but also pull in dressier elements. With the huge rise of the sports-lux trend, my team, comprised of Creative Director Venket Ravindra and Photographer Ahmad Hussain, agreed on taking a cleaner approach the surroundings. However, the surrounding was also key because it related to my real life as a student. Although we didn’t shoot at my university (Ryerson), we chose a closer option with University of Toronto’s Mississauga campus.
The sneaker of choice was the White, Red and Navy Classic VN, which instantly drew my eye to it while taking a look through their catalogue. I loved the simple design, however, I knew that it could be worn several different ways. Although this was my first K-SWISS shoe in recent years, I was glad that the comfort level was still there.
The Classic VN retails for $75 and comes in 12 different colourways. The sneaker is available on www.KSWISS.com
Love the shoes!
I bought a pair because of you! Love you The Prep Guy <3 <3
